Today, God has opened the door to heaven, the pathway to love. In a still restless world, On a dark shadowless night; And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks by night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, "Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you; you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of God's Heavenly Army appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on who! m his favor rests." Proclamations were shouted from the heavens as the agony of childbirth brought gurgling and coos from a new born baby boy. A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on himâ"the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, The Spirit of counsel and of power, The Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lordâ"and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
